Development of a Web-based journal entry posting system

Developed a Web-based custom software application to replace the existing use of Excel spreadsheets to record hand posted financial journals.

The Project

Faced with the annual problem of processing thousands of spreadsheet-based financial journal entries from multiple campuses and departments, a major university system required a web-based solution that would improve accuracy and efficiencies within the system.

Solution

The SIS Team designed and implemented a web-based product designed to the University’s specifications that allowed the multiple campuses to input the journal entries using a standard web browser as the input mechanism. Once validated, these journals were then automatically posted into the University’s Corporate Financial System.

Results

The project was completed on time and under budget. With the new system in place the University Financial close process in less time consuming with resulting labor savings and improved accuracy.
